We all need a pick-me-up sometimes, and these inspirational rock songs are the perfect remedy for a bad day. Pop and gospel are usually the go-to genres for inspiring songs, but I've always preferred rock myself. You don't have to love rock to appreciate inspirational rock songs. While thousands exist, these are just a few to get you started to feeling better and happier, no matter what life throws at you.
1 If Everyone Cared - Nickelback
While Nickelback is well known for innuendos, this poignant tune poses the question of how different the world would be if everyone cared. It makes you think about the world around you and how a simple change can then change the world. For me, it inspires me to think more positively and treat others better. It may be more of a ballad, but it's one of the most inspirational rock songs.
2 It's My Life - Bon Jovi
No one likes to be told how to live their life. I know I don't. Bon Jovi sums it up perfectly with this song. After all, it's your life and you should live it like you want. It also inspires you to live for now instead of waiting for later. You never know what could happen next, so live your life today.
3 Don't Stop Believing - Journey
It's a classic rock song for a reason. “Don't Stop Believing” is all about overcoming the odds by believing in yourself. Whether you first heard the original or the Glee cover, you can't help but feel inspired to reach for your dreams. Not to mention, it's just fun to sing along with.
4 Rise above This - Seether
After a tragic event in Shaun Morgan's life, he penned “Rise Above This.” Its entire focus is about finding your inner strength and rising above life's difficulties. No matter what's going on in your life, you can rise above it. It also tells you it's okay to fall down sometimes, but you will get back up.
5 We Are the Champions - Queen
What's more inspiring than singing about fighting hard and emerging victorious? Of course, it's hard to listen to “We Are the Champions” without hearing “We Will Rock You” first. Personally, I love listening to both back to back. I always feel energized and ready to take on the world afterwards.
6 Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
I know it may seem corny, but it truly is an inspiring song. While numerous shows and commercials have made fun of the song, it's a rock anthem that still brings to mind images of working hard and fighting your way to the top. Give it a listen and you just might find yourself feeling inspired.
7 Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
If you ever feel stuck in life or think it's too late to change, “Stairway to Heaven” is the perfect song for you. I love the lyrics and how they inspire you to change the road you're on. In a world where we're always told it's too late, this songs tells a different story. It's definitely a classic and one that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
8 Dream on - Aerosmith
The title says it all for this one. We all have dreams, but how often do we give up on them? I've had dreams I've let go for one reason or another. Somehow, listening to “Dream On” makes me want to try again. The song's slow build helps boost your mood and by the end, you're ready to do whatever it takes to see your dream through.
9 Prayer of the Refugee - Rise against
Bad things happen in life, but they don't have stop you from living. “Prayer of the Refugee” motivates you to move on from the worst life has to throw at you and stand tall. It's all about living your life for you and stepping away from those who hold you down. One listen and you'll suddenly feel stronger.
10 Rise - Skillet
This song is a harsh look at the world we live in. The end will give you chills as it takes you back to recent tragedies. The entire point of the song is to rise up and start a revolution to make the world a better place. I always listen to this when I feel like I have no control over the world around me. The chorus alone is a powerful, motivational chant you won't soon forget.
11 It's Not My Time - 3 Doors down
We all have fears and doubts, but we shouldn't let those stop us from achieving our dreams. We never know when it might be too late and “It's Not My Time” is a great reminder. Listen carefully to the lyrics, even though it's hard not to get caught up in the music. You'll feel inspired to stop procrastinating and start living.
I have several inspirational playlists to help keep me motivated when things don't go the way I want. Even if you're not a fan of rock music, I suggest giving some of these a try. Their inspirational messages are well worth the time. What are some of your favorite inspiring rock songs?
