1 Gonna Get over You

This is one of my all-time favourite upbeat songs! Gonna Get Over You by Sara Bareilles is a break-up song that is not depressing at all. Sara Bareilles sings about feeling terrible about a break-up, but she knows that she will be fine eventually. The song talks about how break-ups can lead to personal growth and acceptance. It also reminds us of our worth and when to let go of a relationship that is one sided. Come to think of it, the song is positive and empowering!

I first heard this song in the movie A Walk to Remember and I immediately fell in love with it. Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader is just plain happy and lovely. It makes me think of summer by the beach with my friends and family, having a great time. The lyrics are simple and the chords almost never change, which I believe is one of its best qualities: uncomplicated and fun. It’s such feel-good music!

4 Live in This City

If you’re looking for a carefree, easy and awesome upbeat song, Live in This City by Dragonette is the one for you! The song is insanely catchy. Tired of your job? Getting bored in the city that you’re in? This song will definitely give you a pick-me-up. The song’s official music video is entertaining too.

5 Gone in the Morning

Gone in The Morning by Newton Faulkner was featured in the movie Morning Glory released in 2010. I find this song so cute and it never fails to make me smile. The song is mainly about dreaming of all the things the singer wants to do. "I’m gonna master all kinds of Kung-Fu. I’m gonna live in a tiny zoo." This song is so beautifully wholesome and it’s just perfect for a wonderful, sunny day.

6 All Night

Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt of Icona Pop explained that All Night is basically about not being afraid of expressing oneself and "when you find the right element you just want to do it all night." This song was #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. Trust me when I say that this song will make you feel excited and young. I can listen to this song all night!

7 Alive

Alive by Empire of the Sun will make you jump up and down. The song starts out with the artist’s plea for help to release him from his stagnant and boring life.
