1. The Boom Boom

Once you listen to The Boom Boom, you'll start to wonder how you ever lived without their music. This killer trio became my new obsession after listening to just one song of theirs! 'I Wish I Was Your Cigarette' is part one of five of the band's mini YouTube series. Actually, I have to thank Degrassi alum, Cassie Steele, for tweeting the link to this band. I have been hooked ever since! They're just ONE of the many awesome indie bands on this list.

2. Real Friends

'Real Friends' is a pop-punk band from Chicago that writes lyrics that make you feel, well, like they're your friends. "I've got this lonely night and Jimmy Eat World," is a line in their song, "Skin Deep". If you can relate to that, you'll love their music. Recently, the band signed to Fearless Records (known for releasing Plain White T's) and will appear on the Warped Tour this summer.

3. This Good Robot

This Good Robot isn't really a new band but I do feel like they should get a lot more recognition! I saw them perform live in New York City last year and they blew my mind. They're such a great example of true musicianship. Their song, 'The Human I Am' is catchy while still providing some amazing lyrics. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think of them! If you like the song, check out 'Woe Is Barnaby Black' and 'Call The Police'.

4. You Blew It!

First of all, how cool is their band name? This band has been getting some serious buzz and I can't wait to see where their music takes them this year. I especially love listening to their acoustic stuff - take a listen!

5. Drowners

Ready for your new obsession? 'Drowners' is an AWESOME band. Lead-singer (and male model) Matt Hitt, will make your heart melt with his Welsh accent and good looks. These boys definitely know how to put on a show and I really hope to see them perform live soon! Their hit, "Button On Your Blouse" will give you a great feel for their music. However, my current favorite of theirs is 'Luv, Hold Me Down'!

This indie-pop trio has toured with some major artists like Alt-J and MS MR. They even starred in a documentary with Passion Pit! They're definitely making a name for themselves in the music industry and it's not hard to see why. Their song, Garden Grays, is super mellow and a definite feel-good song for your summer playlist!

7. The Head and the Heart

Indie-folk band, The head and the Heart, will easily become one of your new favorites. Their song, 'Another Story' features some pretty swoon-worthy vocals. Plus, Pretty Little Liar's star, Troian Bellisario stars in the music video! I'd say that's pretty impressive.

walk the moon and alt-j are fantastic

How about Malificent and 22 Jumpstreet?!!!!

Half moon run, local natives, the cranberries, the offspring and Great Lake swimmers are my faves at the moment 😀

ummm Portugal. The Man? and Alt-J? and Modern Baseball? there were many that were missed on this list

I love real friends but I would consider them more punk pop

a lot of these bands are leaning towards pop punk. but I agree with "Drowners", "Wildcat! Wildcat!", and the "Head and the Heart"

The xx is practically the definition on indie music...

Real Friends isn't very indie, are they? pop punk and indie are 2 very different things

they all sound lame....no offence
