There’s just a particular sound that feels like autumn, and I love when it’s in songs. I don’t know how artists do it, but they capture the feeling of the leaves changing and the air getting a little chillier with music, and it’s magical. If you’re looking for songs that remind you of autumn, these are the songs you should be listening to this fall!

1. Autumn- Ben Rector
Ben Rector’s Autumn isn’t necessarily about the season, but that doesn’t mean that it gives you all of the feels that autumn makes you feel. It will remind you right of the end of summer. It’s not getting chilly just yet but the school year has started again and you know that summer’s over. This song encapsulates those feelings perfectly.
2. All Too Well- Taylor Swift
Fall romances are often overlooked, but in one of the greatest songs off of Taylor Swift’s Red, Taylor perfectly describes what those autumn romances are like. If you’ve lost someone you’ve experienced an autumn romance with and are feeling a little nostalgic, this song is perfect for you. She paints a pretty picture of memories you’ve probably made with someone special—leaves falling and long road trips—so much so that this song might be a little bittersweet for you.

3. FOOLS- Troye Sivan
I don’t know how Troye Sivan did it, but this song somehow makes you feel nostalgic and homesick while also making you want to go to a club and dance all night. The slow verses just scream autumn to me and the chorus will really hook you for good!
4. Only Love- Ben Howard
What is it about an acoustic guitar that screams autumn to me? If you’re the same way, and acoustic instruments evoke feelings of fall inside of you inexplicably, this is a great song to get you in the mood for fall. Plus, Ben Howard’s gravely voice just amplifies the autumnal feelings by about a million.
5. To Be Alone with You- Sufjan Stevens
Maybe it’s because this song references Lake Michigan, a lake that I spend a lot of the fall near, but once again, the guitar in this song enchants me and gives me feelings of autumn. The lyrics have the same effect as well—there’s something so cozy and special about being alone with someone in the fall that this is a song you’ll have on repeat this fall.
6. Our Song- Ron Pope
Most of Ron Pope’s songs are nearly perfect for fall. This is one of my personal favorites, though, especially in the autumn. If you’re falling in love this fall, be sure to give this song a play or two. If you really want to get in the mood for autumn, listen to this song and spontaneously dance with the person you’re falling in love with. Isn’t that what fall is for?
7. Autumn Leaves- Ed Sheeran
I listened to this song on repeat during the fall of my freshman year of college. Needless to say, I can’t even listen to this song anymore without feeling like I’m a freshman in college again. If you’re feeling lost or confused this fall, give this song a listen. It may just be that pivotal song that reminds you of this particular autumn forever!
