1. Gwen Stefani’s Untitled Album
We all cried right along Gwen Stefani when she released an emotional and heartbreaking song about her divorce from her longtime husband and father of her children, Gavin Rossdale. That’s probably only going to be amplified by about 1000 when she releases the rest of the album along with it.
2. Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry
Frank Ocean’s new album was the most anticipated album of last year, but for some reason, unbeknownst to impatient fans, it still hasn’t been released. Fingers crossed that this is the year it comes out!
Frequently asked questions
3. Taylor Swift’s Untitled Album
Taylor Swift is known to release a new album every two years, so if memory, time, and math serve correctly, she should be set to release a new album in late 2016. Fingers crossed, because she did mention that she might take a break!
4. Panic! at the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor
Panic! at the Disco is finally releasing their fifth studio album three years after their last album. If you love this band, you should be so excited for this album and it’s interesting departure from their usual music (front man Brendon Urie says a lot of the album was inspired by Frank Sinatra—count me in as intrigued!).
5. The 1975’s I like It when You Sleep…
Okay, so the full title of this album is “I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware,” but that’s a little lengthy. If you were a fan of The 1975’s self-titled album released in 2013, you’re sure to love this follow up!
6. Fifth Harmony’s 5H2
When Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony released a song with Shawn Mendes, fans everywhere panicked about what this meant for the future of Fifth Harmony. Fear not, friends, Camila has made it clear in nearly every interview since then that she and the girls are almost done working on 5H2, the follow up to their hit debut album, Reflection.
7. Sia’s This is Acting
Sia recently said that this exciting album has actually been completed since 2016. She’s a songwriter for a lot of the biggest artists in the business, and the music on this are songs that she wrote for other people that didn’t make it on their albums. Rumor has it that there’s a song that didn’t make the cut for Adele’s 25. Please excuse that awful pun!
8. Kanye West’s Swish
Sources have said that Kanye West played his new album Swish for Lamar Odom while he was recovering in the hospital, and it’s safe to say that fans were more than a little jealous. It’ll be his first album since 2013’s smash success Yeezus, and I’m personally hoping that he adds a song to it about the birth of his surely precious new son, Saint!
9. Rihanna’s AntiDiaRY… or an Untitled Album
No one really knows what AntiDiaRY is just yet. Some say that it’s just an app and others say that it will lead to new music, a new single, or a new album. Regardless, fans are refreshing and waiting with baited breath, hoping that it will lead to a new album!
10. Zayn Malik’s Untitled Album
I don’t think I need to remind anyone of the pain Directioners experienced when Zayn Malik left the band in early 2015, but hopefully they’re done mourning in time for the release of his solo project, which is currently untitled. If the reaction to his leaked single “I Won’t Mind” is any indication, fans will just be happy to have Zayn’s voice back in their lives!
What album are you most looking forward to in 2016? Let me know in the comments!
