One of my favorite aspects of the show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" are the performances featuring Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. Coupled with the sheer talent of the legendary hip hop group, every artists' rendition of their respective singles becomes enhanced. From Mariah Carey to Christina Aguilera, the songs of many brilliant artists have reached a wider audience because of their talented nature. This list aims to give exposure to nine of the most creative performances featuring Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.
I never heard this song by this phenomenal singer until seeing it performed with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. I love that common office supplies complement Christina Aguilera's already impressive voice. Jimmy Fallon's impromptu dancing makes it all the more memorable. This video more than proves that Christina Aguilera is one of the greatest singers around.
The legendary hip-hop group The Roots truly outdid themselves in this next number. As Jimmy Fallon's official house band, they decided to freestyle songs based off of suggestions given by the audience. The fact that they were able to create a catchy song was pretty cool! Watch as hilarity ensues.
I was always indifferent towards this song until hearing this fantastic rendition. This was the first "Classroom Instruments" segment that I was introduced to, subsequently being the first of many in this series. Their performance is so good that I think they should cover every pop song known to man.
I honestly don't think that I could love this video any more if I tried. While I know that some people may not agree with this, I still have credit where it's due. Mariah Carey's voice paired with the kids' backing vocals makes this video more than worth mentioning. Watching this performance definitely gets me into the holiday spirit!
Putting aside all of the recent controversy and drama surrounding her, this is one of my favorite performances! The harmonies in this video, as well as the copious facial expressions from various members of the band, are positively flawless.
I must confess that I haven't been able to stop playing this video ever since it first premiered! This is a very light but fun segment that you won't want to miss! The fact that they are able to play with just one hand makes me love them even more. You have to admit that it is pretty funny.
Lastly, this rendition of the Sesame Street theme song just may be the greatest thing to ever happen in the history of this show. After all, who could ever resist Cookie Monster and Elmo belting it out? The best part about this performance is the inclusion of random classroom supplies. I hope that more segments like this are brought to fruition.
These performances are one of the biggest reasons why I watch this show. I love that everyone on the show seems to have a good time and can roll with the punches. What are some of your favorite performances featuring Jimmy Fallon and The Roots?
