There are so many performances by Leighton Meester that are very, very impressive. I always knew she dabbled a bit in music while acting, but I never knew how amazing her vocals really were. When I started listening to her music, I was blown away. It's so different that the pop stuff that she first came out with. She's a magnificent songwriter and I love the direction she's gone in. This tops my list for amazing performances by Leighton Meester. I mean, must I explain why? I never even knew Leighton had this vocal range! I still watch and listen to this video daily. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a studio version of this song, but I assume it doesn't get much better than this. It's perfect.
I'm totally obsessed with this song, too. The lyrics are beautiful and her voice sounds amazing. This is the type of music Leighton should be making/releasing. You can tell that this style is really her, it's just effortless. I love that this performance features Check in the Dark because they're pretty epic too.
Can I just start off by saying how much I love her outfit? She's so adorable! I love this performance of "Blue Afternoon". She looks so comfortable on stage, which makes me so happy when I watch these videos. I can't help but still think of Leighton as Blair Waldorf (am I the only one?). This Queen B definitely has some pipes on her.
When I first heard this song, I fell in love with it. The lyrics are so beautiful! I had this video on repeat for so long and still play it back once in a while. Leighton's voice paired with Mike Frieman's is magical. Check in the Dark wrote this song and Leighton sounds great on it. I wish I had been in the audience for this. This was back in 2011 and I'm still hoping they'll get together sometime soon and perform it again. I know I'd be the first in line!
Oh my gosh, her dancing! I'm sorry, I'm having major Leighton feels right now. I love this song, I think she sounds great. The lyrics are fantastic and I love that the crowd is so into it. This song has such a cool and mellow vibe to it.
Every song on the County Strong soundtrack is gold. This one, however, is my absolute favorite. Leighton and Garrett sound incredible together. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any live recordings of this, but this will do! This is such a beautiful song. If this is the first time you're hearing this song, I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I do!
Here's another great video that features Check in the Dark. The audio in this video isn't the greatest, but you can still hear Leighton's vocals and that's what counts. I love how lost in the music they get and they put on such a great show.
