Sometimes while working out, I really enjoy listening to hardcore rock songs. Nothing gets you worked up quite like hardcore music. Each of the songs on this list have great breakdowns that will make you feel like getting up and moving. Whether you are lifting weights or doing cardio, these hardcore rock songs will get your blood flowing. WARNING: Some of the hardcore rock songs on this list contain strong language, so listen at your own discretion.
One of my all time favorite hardcore rock songs is All That Remains by Inked in Blood. This song has a smooth and consistent beat that makes it a great song to run or lift to. This song does not contain adult language and has less screaming than some of the others on the list. So if you are just getting into hardcore music, this is a great song to start out with.
Killing in the Name is a song by rap metal band Rage Against the Machine. This song serves as a protest to institutional racism and police brutality. The strong language and politically driven lyrics can really get your heart rate going and the guitar riffs are mesmerizing. However, this song isn’t for those with sensitive ears as it repeats the F word 17 times. Nevertheless, this song can really get you going during a workout!
This War is Ours is on the second Escape the Fate album (the first album with new vocalist Craig Mabbitt) by the same name. The lyrics are about being on the frontlines of war and defying all odds to win a battle. This song helps to motivate me while I am working out. At times, I feel like my workout is getting the best of me, but this song helps me to push through. This song is also free of any profanity and features singing throughout the screamed verses.
House of Straw by Bury Your Dead has a very rhythmic drumbeat that is great to workout to. This song contains adult language and the lyrics deal with a heavy subject matter – spousal abuse and the affects it has on the family. The anger translated in the song, however, can really get you going at the gym.
The guitar and the drums at the beginning of this song are so intense that it’s guaranteed to get you going at the gym. The drum in this song is faster than some of the others on this list, which makes it perfect to run to. This is my favorite As I Lay Dying song and is a staple on my gym playlist.
Stiletto by Symphony in Peril features my favorite breakdown of all time. The first part of the song is heavy, intense screaming but at the 1:39 mark, the music changes and leads into the best hardcore breakdown of all time. It is sure to motivate you during your workout!
We are the Archers by Oh, Sleeper is a fast song full of intensity. This song contains no chorus and is read like a poem by itself. Although it is untraditional for a song, it is a great hardcore rock song that will keep your heart rate up at the gym.
I love working out to hardcore rock songs. I have each of these songs on my playlist for when I go to the gym. Nothing gets me more worked up and motivated than screaming and breakdowns. What is your favorite hardcore rock song to work out to? Share it with us in the comments!
