I love watching the audition week of the American Idol contestants. You pretty much get the best of both worlds; a look into some amazing talent, and a few laughs at the people who shouldn't be quitting their day jobs for this. It is frustrating, however, to listen to some incredible voices and find out they never made it past Hollywood week. There are a bunch of American Idol contestants that never made it through all the way. I never got over it.

1. Aubree Dieckmeyer
This girl is fantastic. Just watch her audition video, you'll love her! She's super goofy and as you'll find out, mega-talented. I couldn't believe that she didn't make it past Hollywood week. However, I still keep up with her videos on her YouTube channel, where she's covered songs from The Beatles, Johnny Cash, and more. She even put out an EP last year! Check her out, you won't regret it. She's one of my favorite American Idol contestants.
2. Johnny Keyser
I still watch this audition, all the time. Johnny Keyser was one of my favorites! I never understood how he didn't make it to the live rounds. I mean, look how much the judges LOVE him! It just didn't make sense to me. Johnny came back to Idol a year after this audition (last season), impressed the judges, and then never made it past Hollywood week. Sigh.
Frequently asked questions
3. Schyler Dixon
I love love loved Colton Dixon on American Idol, but I also really loved his sister, Schyler. She's tried out for Idol three times, and has never made it past Hollywood week. I think that's a shame, truly. She has such an incredible voice! It'd be awesome to see Colton collab with Schyler in the near future!
4. Matheus Fernandes
I love Matheus! If you're a Glee fan, you know him from the first season of The Glee Project! He was incredible then, and still incredible now. He auditioned for AI and won over the judges. Unfortunately, he never made it past the next round. Why, judges?!
5. Josh Holiday
I loved Josh's audition. He seemed very relaxed, like the vocals just came to him effortlessly. That high note he hit at the end was very impressive! You know you're good if Mariah Carey approves of your high notes. Am I right?! I wish he lasted longer in the competition. I think he could've gone to the next level with his voice and it would've been super exciting to watch!
6. Stephanie Schimel
Like Keith Urban describes her in this video, Stephanie is like a mix of Carrie Underwood and Gwen Stefani. She has an awesome voice! It's very sweet and lulling, I could listen to this audition all day! The choice of song was fantastic. It showed off her voice fabulously, so kudos to you, Stephanie! I wish she had made it to the live rounds.
7. Jimmy Smith
Ugh, I'm such a sucker for a guy with an awesome country voice. Jimmy Smith was the whole package. He was a handsome guy with a beautiful voice. I loved his audition song! Rascal Flatts is one of my favorite bands! I think Jimmy could be very successful in the country world.
So, there you have it! These are just seven out of MANY fantastic American Idol contestants that never made it through. Of course, I think everyone that did make it through was very deserving of it. I guess I just wish that more people were sent through to the live rounds. Who do you think was American Idol's biggest mistake to let go?
