You may find it hard to believe that the songs on this list of top hits from 2004 are already a decade old. 2004 spurred some amazing top hits that still get radio play today. So take a trip down memory lane and see how many of these top hits from 2004 you can remember!
There is no denying that 2004 was the year of Usher. His album, Confessions, was the top selling album of the year and his single Yeah! was the top hit of 2004. Yeah! topped the charts for 12 consecutive weeks before his second single off the album, Burn took its place. It’s hard to believe that Yeah! is one of the top hits from 2004 – I’m having trouble believing this song is that old already!
If I Ain’t Got You is Alicia Keys' Grammy-winning hit from 2004. This song is still one of her most well-known hits. If I Ain’t Got You reached the top of the Hot R&B Charts for 6 consecutive weeks and was without a doubt one of the biggest songs of the year.
This Love was the second single from Maroon 5’s debut album, Songs About Jane. Yes, you read that correctly, the debut album. It has already been 10 years since we were introduced to Maroon 5 and subsequently, the “Sexiest Man Alive” Adam Levine. This Love is still one of Maroon 5’s biggest hits and it even won a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
Although The Way You Move was released in 2003, it made its big impact in 2004. The Way You Move reached the top of the Billboard Music Charts and also became the 22nd most successful song of the 2000s. The catchy chorus is sung by a friend of Andre 3000 and Big Boi, Sleepy Brown.
Hoobastank’s The Reason was huge in 2004. This song got constant radio airplay and still gets airplay on alternative stations today. This song remains Hoobastank’s biggest radio hit, peaking at #2 on the charts. It even received a Grammy nom.
Goodies was one of the many crunk (remember crunk!?) hits of 2004. Caira’s beautiful voice is perfectly accompanied by Petey Pablo and the whistling music. Goodies stayed at the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for 7 entire weeks.
Tipsy is J-Kwon’s one and only hit – but what a great hit it is! Seriously, who didn’t love singing along to Tipsy? The chorus and beat were catchy, making it a great hit. It peaked at #2 on the charts.
I Don’t Wanna Know by Mario Winans is a hit from 2004 that I had definitely forgotten about, but I’m glad I stumbled upon it again. I Don’t Wanna Know reached #1 in the UK and #2 in the US (where it remained there for 8 weeks).
Lean Back is, in my opinion, one of the greatest rap songs of the 2000s. It topped the charts for 3 consecutive weeks in 2004. The music has so much energy it’s no wonder it was one of the top hits of 2004.
Although Slow Jamz was released in 2003, it reached the top of the Billboard charts in 2004. Slow Jamz became the first #1 hit for Twista, Kanye, and Jamie Foxx. Slow Jamz was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
Ashlee Simpson, Jessica’s younger sister, broke out into the music scene in 2004 with her album, Autobiography. Pieces of Me was her first and biggest hit off the debut album. Pieces of Me reached the Top 10 in the US as well as many other countries around the world.
