7 Songs from Taylor Swift's 1989 You'll Absolutely Love ...

By Teresa

I don’t know about you, but I love nearly all of the songs from Taylor Swift’s 1989. It was a pleasant surprise, because although I’m a huge fan of Taylor Swift, I tend to lean more on the country side than the pop side. That being said, this is probably her best album, and all of the songs from Taylor Swift’s 1989 are worth listening to. However, these are the songs you simply must check out on her new album!

Wildest Dreams

This was one of the first songs from Taylor Swift’s 1989 that I heard, and honestly, it’s the song that made me completely fall in love with this album. It’s pop, there’s no getting around that, but it’s not bubblegum pop. A lot of people have compared it to a Lana Del Rey song, so if you like her, you will love this song. It’s one of the most unique songs on the album, and in pop music in general right now, so I can’t help but hope it becomes a single at one point or another!

Style

Any guesses as to who this song is about? Don’t worry; it’s not a break-up song bashing the wonderful Harry Styles. Instead, it’s a song about just how great he is, further confirming your suspicions. It’s also, in my opinion, one of the catchiest songs on the album. It’s one of those songs that I’m sure I’ll find myself singing at an embarrassing volume with the windows down late at night. You will, too. Just listen to it.

Blank Space

This is the next single off of 1989, and I have never been more excited for a single, in the words of Taylor herself, like, ever. If you don’t dance when listening to this song, you might be a robot. In my opinion, it’s the best song on 1989, and a song that I don’t think I will ever get sick of. Let me put it this way: I’m actually excited for it to become overplayed on the radio. It’s that good.

4

Wonderland

Only Available at Target
At Target, you can get an exclusive deluxe CD with three bonus tracks and three voice memos from Taylor’s songwriting process. Wonderland is one of the three bonus tracks, and in my opinion, all three of these songs were great enough to be on the actual album, so I’m so happy that they made the album in some form. Wonderland is a song about getting lost in a great love, which I’m sure we’ve all experienced at some point. She captures the feeling perfectly.

5

I Know Places

This is the type of song that could only come about after spending five or more years in the spotlight, and yet still somehow it’s relatable. I don’t know how she does it. I Know Places is about running away from the people who are trying to sabotage your relationship. It’s a darker song, but still one of the best on the album.

You Are in Love

Only Available at Target
Taylor’s known for writing songs about falling in love, but like a good romantic comedy, she never really writes about what comes after that. This song, though, is inspired by Jack Antonoff (her cowriter) and Lena Dunham’s relationship, and Lena’s even gone so far as to say it will be played at their wedding. It’s an absolutely lovely song, whether you’re in love or not.

7

Clean

Buy on iTunes here: itunes.apple.com
Although this song is about breaking free from a bad guy or situation, this song can apply to almost any hardship you've ever gone through or roadblock you’ve ever com up against. Seriously, give it a listen. It’s a song about coming out a stronger person on the other end, making it a must-listen.

What songs are you listening to on 1989? Which are your favorites?
