A hippopotamus? How ridiculous! The imagination of a child is one of the world’s most amazing things. Stimulate your kid’s wandering mind with this great holiday favorite. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Ooh, la la! Don’t look now, but something is going on between mommy and Santa! I love this song. It’s an adorable tune and such a cute idea. Can you believe it took me several years of singing it as a child to realize that Santa was Dad dressed up in a Santa suit? Whether your kids catch on quicker than I did or not, this song is still a fun one to sing during the holidays. Try the version by The Jackson 5 for a song chock full of fun and talent for your kids to sing along with.

Dominic the Donkey

How does Santa deliver presents up the steep mountain terrain of Italy? With the help of Dominic the Donkey of course! Please Christmas Don’t Be Late

The Alvin and the Chipmunks version of this song is by far the most popular. Dave yelling at Alvin throughout while Alvin, Simon, and Theodore detail the items they’d really love for Christmas. This is such a classic holiday song adored by kids and grown ups alike.

Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer

I always thought this song was a bit violent, but kids seem to love it! For some reason the idea of ole’ Granny getting a bit tipsy on eggnog, wandering out into the road and getting trampled by Santa’s reindeer is highly comical for children. Hey, whatever works! And as long as there is eggnog involved, I’m all ears. Santa doesn’t seem like the hit-and-run type of character, so I’m sure Grandma is doing fine and will be careful not to walk out on Christmas Eve like that in the future.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

This song is hopeful and happy – everything you look for in a classic Christmas tune. The best part is that kids love singing this song all season long. A bonus to this song is the reminder that it’s so important to be good if kids want to receive all of the gifts they’ve asked for. A song that encourages children to behave and gets everyone in the holiday spirit? That’s a win-win!

Don’t be a scrooge! Allow your children to help you get into the holiday mood by singing along with them as they sing great childhood Christmas songs. What were your favorite holiday songs growing up? What songs do your kids love to sing at Christmas time?
