7 Amazing Hardcore Rock Songs to Get You Motivated ...

When it comes to hardcore rock songs, I know plenty of music lovers out there who simply cannot handle this kind of music. But if you are into intense guitar solos and a little screaming in the chorus as much as I am, I’m sure you will love this list. When you’re trying to get yourself pumped up and motivated, whether it is for a test, a first date or just a daily workout, it’s not always easy, especially when you have had a long and tiring day. One of the best ways to get you pumped up for these sorts of things is to plug in some music and tune out. My go-to genre is always hardcore rock songs, and here are some of my favorites that always get me motivated. Let’s see if they also work for you!

Best of You by Foo Fighters

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

I know Nirvana isn’t on here, but following Kurt Cobain’s death I personally feel Dave Grohl has changed dramatically through the years as a musician. He went from being a drummer living in the shadow on Nirvana, to the front man for Foo Fighters. Best of You is their top song to date and the lyrics restore my faith in music, and people. Hardcore rock songs speak to a multitude of issues and topics and they are not all vulgar like most people think. Best of You is about getting back up when the world knocks you down, so give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

All the Californians out there can probably relate to this song a little more than I can on the east coast. In actuality no one really knows what Axl Rose meant when he sang about Paradise City, although many people (including me) think it’s about Los Angeles or San Francisco. Nevertheless, the guitar riffs in this song are incredible and the lyrics make me long for summer, happiness and excitement. One of the best things about hardcore rock songs is that because of the intensity of the lyrics and music, you can get motivated without even realizing it sometimes. So come on, take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty!

Enter Sandman by Metallica

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

For every music fan who loves hardcore rock songs, Enter Sandman is nothing less than an anthem. Conquering your fears is the most difficult thing for some people to do in life, and Metallica encourages listeners to do so in this song. Sometimes Metallica gets a negative reputation in movies and on television because people associate their fans with being crazy, goth-like outcasts, when that is SO not the case. Don’t be ashamed to listen to Metallica and don’t let anyone else discourage you from conquering your fears, and pursuing your dreams!

Runnin’ with the Devil by Van Halen

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

Hardcore rock songs have been around since as early as the 1970s, and after the monumental birth of hair metal, bands like Van Halen paved the way for what would later be known as arena rock. I love this song because not only is it a great running song since it’s actually about running (sort of), but when I concentrate on the high pitches of the electric guitars I easily get through my workout. I like to think of Runnin’ with the Devil as an awesome road trip song as well, especially if you’re able to drive off into the sunset in a convertible with the wind in your hair. After all, this song talks about freedom and runnin’ with the devil, which we all do every now and then!

5

Back in Black by AC/DC

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

Although they can’t be compared to Van Halen, AC/DC hit their peak not long before Van Halen. Back in Black is one of their top songs and it always puts me in a good mood. I think it can even be classified as one of the most feminine hardcore rock songs ever made because so many women love it! It’s such a sexy song if you think about it and it was also in the beginning of the movie 13 going on 30, which made me realize how romantic this song can be (aka a make out-song as seen in the movie).

Coming Undone by Korn

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

Coming Undone is another classic hardcore rock song, but not in the same tempo as AC/DC and Van Halen. I definitely think Korn fans get a bad reputation in the same light as Metallica, but that isn’t any reason not to enjoy their music. Hardcore rock songs come from many different types of bands and this one certainly gets me motivated to do anything, especially when I’m on my way to an important interview. For whatever reason, the beats just keep you moving while you rock out to those booming bass and electric guitars.

7

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Marilyn Manson

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

If you were able to catch the trailer of the Great Gatsby, a version of this song was played during the climax. The Eurhythmics made this song a hit, but Marilyn Manson modernized it for the generation of fans who love hardcore rock songs. I’m not necessarily a fan of Marilyn Manson’s other songs but I can’t stop listening to this one, particularly right before I’m going out on a first date. I wonder if other people have the same experience. His voice is mesmerizing!

I have carefully compiled this list of hardcore rock songs in the hopes that others would reap the same rewards of listening to amazing music like this. It’s definitely hard to get myself going at times, but these songs are sure bets to get me on the track to feeling jubilant. Even if you’re not a hardcore rock fan, did you enjoy any of these songs? What kind of music gets you motivated? Do tell!
